Dear Marie,
Although you & I have never met, we share something that no parents should - the deep, unending grief that follows the deaths of our children. Mine were taken quickly in two tragic highway crashes and six miscarriages. More than that, you grieved for ten heart-wrenching months as Tyler bravely fought cancer after your beloved husband, Ed's, and son, Dylan's, deaths.
My heart aches and tears flow for you as my own memories are pouring down my cheeks. Please know that I care deeply for you, not only now, but as the future passes and 'drags' you along as it does me...and too many other grieving parents.
One of my Grammas used to tell me while I was a young child, "There's no grief like a Mother's grief!" after one of her sons, my Uncle Jack Nesbitt, died years before I was born. I learned within the 14 1/2 month span of my daughters' deaths exactly what Gramma meant. Countless people have told me that time will heal. For me it does not. It only makes life very, very different.
