Later in life, Jo married Buster Brown, moved to Fort Macleod and at the age of 65 started a carpet and linoleum store which she ran as a viable business. Jo and Buster also owned an exotic ranch, raised cattle, horses, miniature donkey's, wild boars, llamas, ostriches, emus, cockatoos, cockatiels, peacocks, numerous exotic pheasants and other bird species. Jo was known as the bird lady in Fort Macleod and enjoyed providing tours through their exotic ranch for school children. She loved to travel, was fun to be around and had a great sense of humour. Jo is survived by her children Terry and Jackie, Dulaine and Terry, Gene and Ruth, Kimberly and Cam, Dean, and daughter-in-law Brenda Polutnik, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her sister Gwen (Gary) Kerkhoff and her brother Bruce (Jill) Cavelle.
