Obituary of Shirley Florence Wheeler

Shirley Florence Wheeler (nee Rideout) 1942 - 2018 Shirley Wheeler, passed away October 5, 2018 in Cranbrook. She was born on May 9, 1942 in Burlington, Newfoundland. She grew up and went to school in Baie Verte, Newfoundland. On October 22, 1958 she married William Albert Wheeler. They have six children, Dereck (Irene) Rideout, Tony (Golda) Wheeler, Paul (Peggy) Wheeler, Bill (Pauline) Wheeler, Niles (Stacey) Wheeler and Blair (Amanda) Wheeler; thirteen grandchildren Shane (Lisa), Kimberly (Travis), Natasha (Keir), Ashley, Candace (Terrence), Billie-Jo (Nathan), Blake, Mitchel (Brittany), Jessica (Sal), Melissa, Hunter, Brianna and Stephan;twelve great grandchildren Slater, Ethan-Jaxen, Deakon, Harlo, Amaiya, Shayle, Owen, Kaiden, Isabel, Emersynn, Elizabeth and Leighton. Shirley was a founding member of Trinity Pentecostal Church in Baie Verte. She was one of the first Sunday school teachers, Crusader Officers and she helped form Women's Ministries. She worked as manager at Schwartz's in Baie Verte from 1962 - 1982. When she and Bill moved to Sparwood, BC, she continued managing Fields until her retirement in 2002. They then moved to Cranbrook where she was employed at Jewels on Ninth. Shirley was predeceased by her parents Rubert and Daisy Rideout.She is survived by her sister Bernice, and brother Jerry, and by numerous nieces and nephews. A celebration of life will be held on Tuesday October 9, 2018 at 11:00 am at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook, BC.
