Wallace Murray Sherritt
"Murray"
December 25, 1921 - August 14, 2018
It is with heavy hearts that we announce that Murray passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family. He was 96 years of age.
Murray is survived by his wife Agnes, of 71 years, who was the love of his life and inseparable best friend, his sister Donna, daughter Joan (Dennis), son Brian (Shauna), grandchildren, Kimberly (Will), Kerry (Sherri) and Spencer, great grandchildren, Landen, Kallie, Harper and baby Jade who will be showing up shortly. Murray was predeceased by his brother Jim.
Murray was born and raised in Foxwarren, Manitoba. When relatives started moving West he too moved and settled in Okanagan Centre, BC. He purchased land in Winfield, BC prior to the start of World War 2. In August, 1942 he enlisted in the Army and served his country in the United Kingdom, Mediterranean and Continental Europe until his discharge in March, 1946. Upon his return he met and married Agnes Runzer. They purchased an orchard in Winfield and set down roots. Murray was a hard working full time orchardist as well as working different full time jobs until he retired at 65. He enjoyed trap shooting with the Oceola Fish and Game crew as well as hunting. He loved his garden and all the fresh vegetables it provided. Highlights were going to the casinos in Reno and Las Vegas as well as locally. In 2016 he and Agnes relocated to Cranbrook where they could be close to family. He loved Cranbrook, especially his apartment at Joseph Creek where he could watch those beautiful mountains and "his" deer and ducks from his favorite chair. Best of all he loved those 3 great grandchildren who came roaring through his door with hugs and kisses for him and wanting to ride on his wheelchair. He was so loved by his family. He was a gentleman's gentleman, never lost his sense of humour and will be greatly missed but certainly not forgotten.
Special Thanks to Barb and Stu for always coming to visit, Beverly for those warm/cold hand visits and all the fantastic Care Aids at Joseph Creek who had hugs and smiles and a sense of humor. Dr. Dawson (Doc) for your support and visits.
At Murray's request no funeral will be held.
