Dear Stacey K.C. Calendar and Devlin so sorry to hear about Dalton he was a great man and parent. Never forget the times he had my class out to the ranch to learn about ranching. It wasn't until years later that I realized he had the kids do the chores he kid not like. (Crafty devil) Having taught all of your kids I know what wonderful parents you both were David Etmanski

Our sincere condolences to the family!
I got to know the Coleman family when they were ranching near Moose Jaw. Dalton was a really good cowboy and friend. We worked together, we rodeoed together and most of all we had good times together.
May he rest in peace!

Stacey and Family, I found this by accident and am very saddened to hear of Dalton's passing. For the last week I have been thinking of you often, perhaps it was for a reason. I used to see both of you and it has been a long time since I last saw either of you so I was wondering about you. I wish it was happier circumstances. My thoughts are with you.

So sorry to hear the sad news of Dalton's passing. Stacy my thoughts & prayers go out to you & your family. Dalton always was a kind, gentle soul & a cowboy who always had a smile on his face. We meet Dalton & Stacy through our daughter & son in law Gloria & Reg. We spent many occasions through the years together. My youngest daughter named her son "Dalton" after him. She thought it was a great cowboy name.
May all of your wonderful memories help you through this most difficult time. He will always be with you all. "Rest in Peace Dalton"
My sincere condolence.

Stacey, I just heard of Dalton's passing on. I'm so sorry for you and your family. Dalton was always in my mind, he was always a cowboy at heart, but always had time to talk. He always talked about family, friendships, and farm. Remember the good times and keep family close to you. Deann Decaire

We wish to send our heartfelt condolences to you Stacey and family.
Although we haven't seen Dalton in many, many years, our memories are very fond and real.
Our Mom, Lillian Coleman Hinrup Koenig, daughter of Lloyd and first cousin of Dalton always had a soft spot for him. She always referred to him as "Daltie" and was very saddened to hear of his passing, as were we, her daughters.
Mom has always remembered her Coleman family but did not drive or travel in her life, so was limited when it came to visiting.
Us girls remember our Uncle Harold, Aunt Gladys and cousins from when we lived in Moose Jaw and sometimes saw them when they came to town.
Our great grandmother Sarah Jane Coleman lived with us there so they would often stop by to see her.
We remember Dalton as being so cute and a little bit shy around us. He was a teenager so probably wished he was somewhere else. We also heard many stories about all our cousins and yes, we remember hearing some that included Bub Hill.
We also remember hearing about his love, Stacey.
Our only regret is not to have been able to see our extended family more.
Please know that we are thinking of you.
Warm regards,
Lillian Coleman Hinrup Koenig, Wanda, Karen, Lisa Maria & Tammy

Dalton and I became very close friends when his family was ranching in the hills south of Moose Jaw. We shared many good times working together, rodeoing together and the odd time watching the sun come up after an all night party.
Dalton, myself and a couple of other friends once attended a rodeo in Russell, Manitoba. We booked in at the local hotel and did a little celebrating the night before the rodeo. We didn't think we had caused much of a disturbance, but suffice to say that when we returned to the hotel after the rodeo the next day we were a little surprised to find our belongings piled on the floor in the lobby and an invitation to pay our bill and leave.
Dalton had a tendency to excite very easily. One incident stands out in my memory and I have repeated this story over and over for the last 50 years.
One winter evening Dalton, his brother Ron and I drove in Ron's car over to the bar in Ardill (an Englishman's pronunciation for Hard Hill) to have a beer or two. Ardill, a small village consisting of the bar-hotel and two houses, is located a few miles from the former Coleman ranch in Sask.
On our way home Ron asked me if I'd ever driven a car down the railway tracks. "No, I haven't" was probably not the wisest response. A moment later we had pulled off the highway and were sitting at a railway crossing. Ron let some air out of the tires on his car so they would conform to the tracks - I think he was driving a Thunderbird - and then had me direct him to line the wheels up with the railway tracks. All the while Dalton was letting us know that he was not in favour of what we were about to do, and the language he was using wasn't pretty.
Soon we were cruising down the railway with Ron explaining that one should not touch the steering wheel or the brakes - just let the car follow the tracks. That all worked fine - until we hit a snow drift that had obliterated the tracks. Now I joined Dalton in being more than a little concerned - having a car stuck on an active railway suddenly did not seem very intelligent!
While Ron and I attempted to build a ramp from slabs we tore off the snow fence adjacent to the railroad, Dalton was busy holding his ear to the tracks listening for any signs of an approaching train. What made it hilarious was Ron's whispering to me that the trains no longer ran at night on those tracks. When I asked Dalton what he expected to do if he heard a train coming his response was to make sure he got as far away as he possible could. Within 30 minutes or so we were back on the tracks, albeit traveling a little slower on the lookout for more snow drifts. Dalton was adamant that we get off at the next crossing. I never did tell him that there was never any real danger.
I helped the Colemans pack up when they moved from Sask to their ranch near Cranbrook. They had been like a second family to me. Dalton and I hugged and shed a tear when they left. It's been an honour to know him and a privilege to have been his friend. May he rest in peace.
My sympathies and condolences to all his family and friends. May you reap some comfort from the knowledge that he is finally free from his suffering and pain, and may your memories of the good times spent with Dalton help sustain you through this difficult time.
Sincerely,
Bub Hill
