Kenneth Melroy Pearson
October 10, 1928 - July 7, 2018
The family of Ken Pearson, is sad to announce his passing on July 7, 2018, at his home in Joseph's Creek, with his family by his side. He was 89 years old.
Ken was born in Edmonton, Alberta, to Seth and Tilley Pearson. At an early age, they moved to Canal Flats, BC, and at the age of 12, his family moved to Cranbrook, where he later met and married Evelyn Mazur in 1949, and there they raised their family.
As a young man, Ken worked in the bush, falling and bucking on Grouse Mountain. Later, he purchased the Cranbrook/Kimberley/Invermere Express and then worked for Canada Post for 15 years, delivering mail between Cranbrook and Lethbridge, where he made many friends along his route. The last 22 years of his working career, was with Canadian Liquid Air. As a truck driver, he once again made many friends along the way.
Ken had a likeable, caring manner about him. He was a kind and patient man, who loved to spend time with his family. He loved the outdoors, and Ken and Evelyn shared many adventures, camping, hiking, fishing, canoeing and cross country skiing. Together, they made a great team. Some of his most enjoyable and memorable times were the hunting and fishing trips he made with his son Gary, son-in-law Wayne and grandson Dustin. He was proud of all of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Many times Dad said that he felt like the richest guy in the world because of his family. He was a positive role model and we value everything he has taught us.
Ken is survived by his daughters, Linda (Lawrence) Arishenkoff, Lorraine (Wayne) London, daughter-in-law Lorraine Pearson, 6 grandchildren, and 5 great grandchildren. He was predeceased by Evelyn, his wife of 68 years, his son Gary in 2015, and by his 2 sisters, Gladys and Elmy.
The family would like to thank Dr. Lenz for the many years of care he provided. Ken considered him not only his doctor, but a former neighbour and friend.
There will be no funeral service by Ken's request.
Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service.
