Vivian Doris Moe
(nee Sorensen)
Vivian, born in Calgary took pride in making Kimberley her home since 1937. Her father's store "Sorensen's Food Mart" became Super Valu (now Mark Creek Market). Super Valu was owned and operated by the three siblings Chris, Vivian and Kathy.
Viv and her husband Roy Sr. were instrumental in developing the Kimberley Ski Hill in the 1950s and 60s. She dedicated many years of service to the Girl Guides as a well-loved leader.
Family, friends and visitors enjoyed Viv's kindness and generosity expressed through cookies, homemade bread and knitting - her passions. Roy and Viv welcomed many characters to their table where conversations revolved around hiking, skiing and history of the Kootenay and Banff areas.
Vivian was predeceased by her husband Roy in 2002. She is survived by son Roy Jr, grand-daughters Nickayla and Kassi; son Sandy (wife Lorette) and grandchildren Steven and Sigrid, great-grandchildren Emmi and Erik; sister Kathy and brother Chris. Also special to Aunty Viv were Kristi (Clarke) Johnson (husband Wade) and children Jesse and Kailer; and David Clarke (wife Kara) and children Nathan and Marla.
True to Viv's spirit, she made the best in managing congestive heart failure.
At Viv's request there will be a family celebration at the Wasa Lake cabin, where the family has gathered yearly since 1942.
Donations in Vivian's memory may be made to Wildsight or to the Pines Special Care Home.
A special thanks to Dr. Kate Buddo, Dr. Anneline DuPreez, Dr. Ryan Lunge and RN Nigel Kitto. Thanks to the staff at the Pines for Viv's wonderful care.
Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service.
