Hunter (nee Sparks), Jessie Anne
May 1st, 1931 - April 14th, 2018
With heavy hearts the family of Jessie Anne Hunter announce her passing on April 14th, 2018 at East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, BC after a short but intense bout with cancer.
Jessie was born May 1st, 1931 in High River, AB to Robert and Dora Sparks and lived in Blackie, AB until October of 1938, when the family moved to Cranbrook, BC. She attended Central School and Cranbrook High School, graduating in 1950. From there, she went on to work in several law and insurance adjusters' offices, taking time off to raise her family.
Jessie met Lawrence 'Larry' Hunter in Cranbrook and they married on June 18th, 1952. The couple was blessed with three sons: Robert Lawrence, Clayton Russell, and Rodney Allan.
Throughout the years, Jessie always remained very active. She loved to skate, play ball, golf, curl, and ski. She had a passion for gardening and flowers, which remained an integral part of her life to the end. Being the longest-living resident of King Street; having lived there since the family's move in 1938, was a source of pride.
Being a committed grandmother to her 5 grandchildren: Andrew, Darcy, Rylee, Jordan, and Shaylen was a very important part of her life. Tea parties with the girls topped her list!
Jessie is survived by her loving sons: Robert, Clayton (Sandra), and Rodney; 5 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; sister Ilene Miller; sister-in-law Beverley Sparks; numerous nieces and nephews; long-time friend Betty Davies, and many friends and associates. She was predeceased by her parents Bob and Dora; husband Larry; sister and brother-in-law Minnie and Jimmy Lowe; brother Bob Sparks; brother-in-law 'Red' Miller; daughter-in-law Gabrielle Damke and numerous cousins, as well as Larry's brother and sisters.
A Celebration of Jessie's Life will be held on Friday, May 4th, 2018 at 2:00 pm at McPherson Funeral Home in Cranbrook, BC. In lieu of flowers, donations in remembrance of Jessie may be made to a charity of your choice.
