Sofie Andersen

1929 - 2012

The family of Sofie Andersen sadly announce her passing on Friday, May 18, 2012 in Kimberley, B.C., with her husband Jorgen by her side. Sofie was 83 years old.

Sofie was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend. She worked as a care aide at the Pines until she retired in 1994 and some people may remember her working at Mary's Kitchen many years ago. She was also an Avon lady in Kimberley for many years.....Ding Dong! Sofie was also a long standing member of the Eagles. She loved her years as a bowler and cherished all of the bowling trips (parties) her and her friends made. Fishing and camping and Crazy 8's were some of her favourite pass times. Sofie had an infectious smile and laugh and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.

Sofie is survived by her husband of 58 years Jorgen; sons: Otto (Dana) of Nuuk, Greenland, Ivan (Sue) of Port Coquitlam and Torben (Colleen) of Kimberley; grandchildren: Aviaja and Ivik, Cody, Dayna, Rylee and Adam; a new great grandson as well as all of her relatives in Greenland and Denmark. She was predeceased by her daughter Henrietta, her son Art, her sister Linda and her parents Charlotte and Otto.

A memorial service for Sofie will be held on Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at 2:00 pm at the Kimberley Pentecostal Church (the old Meadowbrook School). A reception will follow in the church hall. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in honour of Sofie may do so to the: Canadian Cancer Society, 19 - 9th Avenue South, Cranbrook, British Columbia, V1C 2L9.
