Rheo Lionel Joseph Touzin
September 27, 1934 - February 1, 2018
Rheo Touzin passed away on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at the age of 83.
He was born on September 27, 1934, and spent his childhood on a farm near the French speaking community of St. Jean, Manitoba. As a young child, Rheo learned to play ice hockey on the frozen Red River during those long Manitoba winters. At 17 years of age he left the farm to try out for the Flin Flon Bombers. Rheo played for the Bombers from 1952 - 1955 during which time he met the love of his life, Joan Willey.
Rheo and Joan wound up in Kimberley in 1963, where he laced them up with the Dynamiters for about three seasons. Over the years Rheo became heavily involved in Kimberley's hockey and baseball scene in a coaching and executive capacity. He was a truly dedicated member of the Kimberley sporting community.
Rheo was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Anna Touzin. He was their only child.
Rheo leaves behind his wife Joan of 63 years; his children Jackie (Ernie), Kevin (Cindy), Trent (Hitomi) and Barry; grandchildren Chris (Meghan), Randi, Taryn (Dusty), Kyle, Shane, Jordan and Rheo; and great grandchildren Easton, Mira, and Kasin.
Rheo will be remembered for his smile and love of sports.
Please join our family for a celebration of his life on June 2, 2018 at the Kimberley Elks Club. Further details will be announced at a later date.
