Clarence Allen McKay
"Clary"
1932 - 2018
On Saturday, February 17, 2018, at East Kootenay Regional Hospital in Cranbrook, Clarence left us peacefully after a long battle with heart failure. He was 85.
Clary was born on March 24, 1932 in Yorkton, Saskatchewan. He spent his early years working on the TransCanada Pipeline as a welder. He settled in the East Kootenay's later and worked for Kennelly's Contracting installing gas lines throughout the area.
Clary attended Mt. Zion Lutheran Church. In retirement he enjoyed spending his time at home on the acreage where he built his grandchildren a mini amusement park which included a merry-go-round, treehouse, zipline, swimming pool and sauna. Clary loved to fish and talk about anything welding or pipeline related. He had a love for all furry creatures; birds, deer, skunk and especially his cats Domino, Jake and Smoky. Clary will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
Clary leaves behind his loving wife Lill of 61 years, his sons Ken (Les), Dean (Gail), Dana (Joann) and Wade (Carmen) and his sisters Diane (Steve), Annette (Norm), Mildred and Francis (John). He was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Clary was predeceased by his mother Lillian McKay, his father Richard McKay, his sisters Alda, Beatrice and Joan and his brother Mervin.
A memorial service for Clary will be held at the Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Cranbrook, located at 920 - 11th Street South, on Friday, February 23, 2018 at 11:00 am.
