Betty Inga Mckersie
January 6, 1929 - January 22, 2018
On January 22, 2018 we lost an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, friend and the matriarch of our family. Betty passed away peacefully at home with family by her side. Betty was born in Pendant d'Orielle, Alberta to Carl and Leila Pearson. Betty and Walter were married October 23, 1956 in Medicine Hat, Alberta and moved to Canal Flats, British Columbia in 1963. Together they established Thunder Hill Ranch where she lived the rest of her life. Betty loved the ranch, the animals and especially her flowers and garden. Betty was adored by many during her thirty plus years as a teacher, she leaves a legacy of her love for teaching in the community of Canal Flats.
Betty is survived by her loving husband Walter and their four children, Brian (Campion) Mckersie, Valerie (Anthony) Macala, Vivian (Dennis) Bond, David (Dawn) Mckersie. Also left to cherish Grandma's memory, her grandchildren Cody (Chelsea), Jessie (Denton), Brandon (Janelle), Dustin, Morgan, Melissa (Trevor), Michael, Chelsie, Jamie and her great-grandchildren, Wyatt, Gavin, Kingston, Harper, Emmett, Hazel and Hudson. Waiting for her in heaven is her grandson Mathew and granddaughters Candace and Megan.
Betty leaves behind many friends and family, especially close to her, Eddy Stair, Leo Vergnano, Donna McNeely, Burt and Doreen Sicotte, Hank and Carol Swartout.
The family would like to thank all of the home support staff, Dr. Walsh, Dr. Mannheimer and most of all a heartfelt thank you to Leeann for her ongoing support and loving care, we are forever grateful.
A service will be held at the Canal Flats Cemetery on Sunday, January 28, 2018 at 3:00 pm. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Alzheimer's Society of Canada.
