Evelyn Pearson
(nee Mazur)
January 7, 1926 - December 7, 2017
The family of Evelyn Anna Elizabeth Pearson are sad to announce her passing on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the East Kootenay Regional Hospital with her family by her side. She was 91.
Evelyn was born in Waldo, BC to Liane and Henry Mazur, the eldest of four children. She grew up in the South Country and later moved to Vancouver where she proudly served in The Woman's Corp's during WWII.
Evelyn married Ken Pearson in 1949, and together they raised their family in Cranbrook. She was a strong, independent, hard working woman, a caring mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a true matriarch and her family meant everything to her. Evelyn was a great role model and taught by example all her life.
Her love of the outdoors provided many good memories of camping, back packing, hiking, canoeing, cross country skiing and especially her climb up Fisher Peak at the age of 68. Evelyn and Ken enjoyed many winters in Arizona with close friends.
She is survived by her husband of 68 years Ken, daughters Linda (Lawrence) Arishenkoff, Lorraine (Wayne) London, daughter-in-law Lorraine Pearson, six grandchildren, five great grandchildren, her sister Irene Beler, her brother John (Betty) Mazur and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her son Gary in 2015 and her brother Donald Mazur.
Our family would like to thank Dr. Sarah Chesney for all the years of care she provided and the compassion shown to Evelyn.
There will be no funeral service by Evelyn's request.
Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service.
