Obituary of Shawn Randall Beattie

1962 - 2012

It is with great sorrow that the family of Shawn Randall Beattie announces his passing on Wednesday, May 2, 2012 at 49 years of age in Marysville, British Columbia.

Shawn was born on July 10, 1962 in Kimberley, British Columbia. His greatest pleasures in life were spending time with his five children and wife of twenty years Kim. He loved to spend time at Moyie with them sitting by the campfire, drinking a beer or two enjoying the serenity interrupted only by the occasional train. Playing cards at his mothers house reminiscing about life, kids and whatever else comes up always ended in a good time. His passions were drumming, listening to music and watching movie trilogies. Shawn was employed for many years at Line Creek Mine.

He is survived by his loving wife Kim Ratcliffe, children Kevin, Kaileigh, Jacob Beattie, Christopher and Justin Hooles, his parents Marjorie and Ronald Beattie, his brothers Currie (Wendy), Kevin (Kathy), Michael (Boby), his Aunt Joyce Hibberd, his in-laws Jim and Lil Ratcliffe, and many more relatives and friends.

In 2009 devastation hit his family when he was diagnosed with A.L.S. (Lou Gehrig Disease), which eventually took his life.

A Celebration Of Shawn's Life will be held at the Kimberley United Church on Friday, May 11, 2012 at 2:00 pm. Those wishing to make a memorial donation in honour of Shawn may do so to the: ALS Society of BC, #1233, 13351 - Commerce Parkway, Richmond, British Columbia, V6J 1R3.
