Loving Husband, Father & Papa. It is with heartfelt sadness, the family announces Bob's passing. Bob passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family.
Bob was raised at Fort Steele and moved to Cranbrook at an early age. He served in the Canadian Navy escorting convoys in the North Atlantic during World War II. Bob returned to Cranbrook to marry the love of his life, Vera. Bob managed East Kootenay Equipment (the family business) for many years. Bob also worked as a deputy sheriff for 15 years, then retired. Bob was a avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. He also enjoyed spending summers out at Green Bay with family and friends. Bob leaves to mourn his loving wife of 65 years Vera, daughter Mary-Ann (Francis), sons, Dell (Sharon), Fred, sister Anna-Mae and family. Bob was known as "Papa" to his six grandchildren, Kerry (Trina), Brad (Kris), Heather (Griffin), Holly-Ann (Craig), Kelly-Ann (Todd), Kheara. Papa was also blessed with 8 great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday May 2nd, 2012 at McPherson's Funeral Home in Cranbrook.
A celebration of Bob's life will take place at 2:00 pm following the service at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch #24 in Cranbrook.
