Please share a memory of Elsie to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Elsie Sophie Hume 1922 - 2017 Elsie Hume passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at the tender age of 95. Elsie was born on a farm in rural Saskatchewan on February 16, 1922, where she happily lived her younger years with her parents and many brothers and sisters. As a young woman, she met a handsome airman named James Hume and they were soon after married in May of 1944. Settling in Kimberley, they happily raised their 2 sons Lloyd and Donald. The outdoors was their playground with many hunting, fishing and camping trips. Also, as Jim was an air force veteran, the Legion was a big part of their lives. Elsie was an avid gardener growing beautiful flowers, veggies and various berries. She was especially fond of her rose bushes. She loved her big band music, dancing, cooking, reading, entertaining, and most of all, loved her family and good friends. She had a very generous nature and was very much up on current affairs. Elsie was predeceased by her husband, Jim, all her brothers and sisters and many relatives over the years. She was the last of her generation. Elsie is survived by her sons Lloyd (Ritva), Donald (Patti), grandchildren James (Riki), Ian, Vanessa (Reece), Adam (Marcelina) great grandchildren Irelyn and Elise. She is also survived by her loving companion of many years, Horst Massar, whom she loved and to whom the family are very grateful to, for the loving care shown her over the years up until the end. Deepest thanks and love, always, Horst. A gathering of Remembrance and Celebration of Elsie's life is being held at the Kimberley Nordic Club Lodge, 840 - North Star Drive at 2:00 pm on Saturday, August 12, 2017. In lieu of flowers, if so desired, please make a donation to your favourite charity. A Limb has fallen from the family tree that says, "Grieve not for me... Remember the Best Times, the Laughter, the Song, the Good Life, I lived while I was strong." Arrangements entrusted to McPherson Funeral Service. Condolences for the family can be offered at: www.mcphersonfh.com
