I am so very sad to hear of Wally's passing. I have so many wonderful memories when working at West's Department Store. I remember the sale weekends which were hugely successful with many customers from all over the region participating and buying. West's the hub where friends and neighbours gathered. A FUN place to work.
On one occasion when I was first hired, it was my first experience on a sale weekend. Wally would always come through the store regularly talking with customers, checking with the staff, very supportive. At the end of my first sale day, Wally asks how I am doing. My reply was........"Wally that was amazing but I have to say, I am so tired my HAIR hurts". Dead silence ........I was thinking oops...no sense of humour? ...... and then he breaks into laughter, we all did. Great sense of humour and many laughs shared over the years.
