Elsie Bridget Jones
March 4, 1928 - May 22, 2017
Elsie Jones was born in Kimberley, BC on March 4, 1928, the daughter of Ross and Annie Patience. She passed away on Monday, May 22, 2017, at the age of 89.
Elsie was predeceased by her loving husband of 48 years, Bill Jones, her parents, and siblings, Eileen Botterill, Stella Walde, Myna Caldwell and Lloyd Patience. She is survived by her sister Viola Bird and her loving daughters, Colleen and husband Dave Rainforth of Lacombe, AB, Willow Jones of Halifax, NS, Tanya and husband Dan Pommier of Kimberley, BC and son Terry Jones of Vancouver, BC, grandchildren Lisa and Jay Moore, Laura Rainforth, John and Kristy Rainforth, Rhiannon Smith, Owen Pommier and 10 great grandchildren.
Elsie worked for a few years at the Post office and then found the love of her life Bill Jones and they were married. Elsie enjoyed swimming and diving at the McDougal Pool, dancing, skating, skiing, bowling and golfing. Many years were spent camping with her family and she enjoyed her trips to Hawaii, the British Isles and the Maritimes. Elsie was very active in the Presbyterian Church. She taught Sunday School, was a Camp Director at Wasa, a Chairperson in the Women's Mission Service, sang in the church choir, was a church elder and hosted many Bible studies. Her home was always open to anyone to stop in for a cup of coffee or a glass of wine. She was a mother of love to her family and her Lord Jesus Christ. The legacy of Elsie's kindness, determination, strength and love of Jesus will live on through them.
Please join us for a memorial service honoring Elsie's life on Saturday, May 27th at 3:00 pm at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church in Kimberley, BC. As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
