Dear Yvonne and the rest of Mickey's family: Greg and I are sorry for your loss. We knew he was nearing his end and thought of him often. Mickey was a very cheerful, talented, full of ideas man. He was a good friend to Greg and always made me smile when he stopped by. We will miss him. May he rest in peace..
With deepest symphony, Greg and Marie Mockford

It is amazing to me to think I only knew Mickey for a little over a year. I met him when I was invited to attend a meeting of the Flat Universe Society which met in the upstairs of Peter Spaans' home on Monday evenings. This was an eclectic bunch of odd-balls who would discuss a wide range of topics, including several esoteric scientific concepts of which I had no previous knowledge. In the course of these rambling discussions Mickey would often mention some outrageous story of his experience with a patented ion cannon that for $75 could totally eliminate automobile pollution, and how it was rejected by the mayor of Mexico City, because such a device would disrupt the many grants Mexico received from large corporations, or how he met Farrah Fawcett Majors while doing a wood-carving demonstration in Edmonton. The funny thing is, that every time someone in the group did some background investigation they always found that Mickey was telling the truth. He seemed to have several patents for amazing devices such as a cancer-zapping electronic gizmo that he developed with a millionaire friend who owned a chain of muffler stores. Unfortunately it did not work on Mickey when he needed it to. I deeply regret not having more time to get to know my new friend better as he had so many special talents as an artist and innovator. My fondest memory of him is his sparkling smile when he was pulling my leg with one of his fantastic stories. It was a privilege to know him for even a short time.
