Al was my boss for 8 years; I have many great memories. I'd like to share one of the most memorable...
Al only allowed us to listen to classical music in the Credit Union; he was a firm believer that it increased intelligence. Although we didn't have a choice in the genre of music, he did allow us to select the CD and composer. Listening to the same 5 CDs day in and day out eventually wore on all of us (except Al of course). My coworkers and I met to brainstorm solutions... I was nominated to go and talk to Al. I pleaded with him, "please let us listen to something else; we'll even listen to elevator music or easy listening.."
Al's reply was, "Janice one day when you are the manager, you can pick the music, until that time we will listen to classical music."
Ugh...
Years later, long after Al's retirement I gave Al a call to say hi. After some small talk he asked me if there was anything specific I was calling for. I replied, "well Al, I just wanted to invite you down to the Credit Union to listen to some good music".
We had a little chuckle; I think I found it a bit funnier then he did...
