My memory of uncle shiningan goes back a long ways. My name is Shirley Schmidt. I am the oldest daughter of the late Frank an Margaret Gaschnitz. I remember as a child going to Cranbrook in the summers when we made our fruit run. My deepest condolences goes out to Aunt Vicky and family.

Our condolences to Vicky and the Gaschnitz families. So so many great memories of Bert. When I joined the Associated Canadian Travellers, Bert and Rick Spooner were the first to welcome me into the club. They both would become great friends to me for many many years to come. The camping trips to Creston for Blossom Festival were awesome. Bert and his guitar provided lots of great sing alongs. My kids still remember the funny song about the frog on the log at the bottom of the sea. I don't know how many Grey Cup or Super Bowl tickets that we printed or sold but it was always a great pleasure to do both with him. Walked many miles as a caveman in the parades and by the end of them, the first beer sure tasted great. He was a very well respected man and I am sure glad and proud that I could call him my friend. Rest in peace dear friend.

Words however kind won't mend your heartache, but those who care, share your loss and pray for your comfort and peace of mind. My prayers are with you and your family.
