Obituary of Norbert Peter Michael Schmitz

September 2, 1927 - December 31, 2009

It is with heavy hearts the family announces the peaceful passing of their beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend Bert at the age of 82 years.

Bert will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife Mary; sons: Wayne (Wendy) Schmitz and their children Jennifer (Ryan) and Ian (Nicki); Robert Schmitz; daughters: Linda (John) Randall and their children Brad (Jody), Jackie, Drayson and Taylor; Connie (Wayne) Arishenkoff; Cindy Schmitz (Ron White); Charlene (Alan) Harrison and their children Adam (Sasha) and Colby (Jeff); step-children Paula (Scott) Young; Lynn (Michael) McNeil; Jack Dalman; sister Gen (Clarence) Schulte; brothers Donald Smith and Nick Schmitz as well as numerous nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Bert was predeceased by his first wife Ellen in 2003, daughter Debra, parents Nicholas and Agnes, brothers Leonard, Vincent and Clarence as well as his sister Beatrice.

A Memorial Service will be held to celebrate Bert's life Thursday, January 7, 2010 at 2:00 pm at McPherson's Funeral Home in Cranbrook (2200 - 2nd Street South).

Interment will be in Westlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Norbert's name to the: Canadian Cancer Society, BC and Yukon Division, 565 - West 10th Avenue, Vancouver, British Columbia, V5Z 4J4.
